Cheaper, and never a surprise.

Overage is a tenth of the big tools' rate, $5 per million events vs PostHog and Mixpanel's ~$50, every charge gets an emailed receipt, and your dashboard never locks. The AI is always free because it's your own model, and self-hosting the binary is unlimited and free forever.

smolanalytics has four cloud plans: Solo at $9/month (250k events, unlimited sites), Pro at $29 (2M events, 3 seats), Scale at $149 (10 seats, 3-year history), and Business at $499 (50 seats, unlimited history). Every plan starts as a 14-day full-product trial with no credit card. Overage is $5 per extra million events, roughly a tenth of what PostHog and Mixpanel charge at the same volume, every charge gets an emailed receipt, and the dashboard never locks. The AI is always free because you connect your own model over MCP, so it is never metered. Sites are never the meter on any plan; the ladder is seats, event volume, and history. Self-hosting the open-source (MIT) single Go binary is the free tier: the same features, unlimited, forever.

Pricing questions

How much does smolanalytics cost?

Cloud plans are Solo $9, Pro $29, Scale $149, and Business $499 per month, each starting as a 14-day full-product trial with no credit card. Overage is $5 per extra million events and the dashboard never locks. Self-hosting the open-source binary is free forever.

How is it cheaper than PostHog or Mixpanel?

Both meter event volume, and their bills climb steeply as you grow. smolanalytics overage is $5 per million events, roughly a tenth of the ~$50 the big tools charge, and the AI is your own model over MCP so it is never a metered add-on. If event-count anxiety is why you are leaving, self-host free and stop counting.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, two ways. The 14-day trial gives you every feature on every plan with no card. And self-hosting the MIT-licensed single Go binary is free forever with unlimited events, sites, and history: docker run -p 8080:8080 ghcr.io/arjun0606/smolanalytics.

Do you charge per site or per seat?

Sites are never the meter, run every product you own on one plan. The ladder is team seats, monthly event volume, and how much history you keep. Isolated instances (projects) are capped per plan because each is a real, separate server.

What happens if I go over my events?

Nothing breaks. You get an emailed receipt and overage is billed at $5 per extra million (a tenth of the big tools), and the dashboard never locks or samples your data. Past Business it is $3 per million and still nothing locks.
