Terms of service

The deal in plain language. No dark patterns in the product, none in the legal pages.

The deal

smolanalytics provides hosted analytics: an isolated instance per project, a dashboard, APIs, MCP access, and (optionally) a GitHub App that opens instrumentation pull requests. These terms cover the hosted service at smolanalytics.com, operated by Arjun Varma (contact: karjunvarma2001@gmail.com). The open-source engine is licensed separately under MIT and is not governed by these terms.

By creating an account you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.

Your responsibilities

You own your data and are responsible for it: collect it lawfully, disclose analytics use to your visitors where required, and honor their deletion requests (the tooling for that is built in).

Don't abuse the service: no unlawful content, no attempts to breach other tenants' isolation, no reselling access without an agreement, no load patterns designed to harm the platform.

Keep your keys secret where they're meant to be secret — the read key and your account credentials. The write key is designed to be public.

Billing and trials

Paid plans are billed by Dodo Payments. Trials are 14 days, no card required; when a trial lapses, the project drops to the free tier and its published limits.

If a subscription lapses, instances are stopped with data kept, then destroyed only after an emailed notice and an export window — the exact schedule is documented and emailed before anything is deleted.

The GitHub App

The App only ever opens pull requests on branches it creates; it never pushes to your default branch. You review and merge — what lands in your repo is always your decision.

Instrumentation PRs are generated with an LLM and can be imperfect. Review them like any contributor's PR. We're not liable for code you merge.

Service, warranty, liability

We aim for boring reliability but the service is provided "as is", without warranties of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. Status: smolanalytics.com/status.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're never liable for indirect or consequential damages, including decisions made on the basis of analytics numbers.

You can export your data at any time; keeping exports of anything business-critical is on you.

Termination

You can delete projects or your account whenever you like — deletion destroys your instances and their data. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice unless the violation is actively harming the platform or other tenants.

If the hosted service ever shuts down for good, the commitment on the security page applies: notice, an export window, and an engine you can self-host that day.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; material changes will be noted here with a date, and continued use after a change is acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of India. Last updated: August 1, 2026.
